I am the manager of children’s choir “les Mirabelles” from Nancy in France and I am planning a tour of concerts with my choir during approximately 10 days during our holidays in February 2009 or at some other date we could choose together if there is a problem (in 2009 or 2010). Indeed, every year I try to make discover to the children of my choir the pleasure and the taste of classical music through orchestral works which I adapt and which I put in words trying to respect for the best the spirit of the composers.

So we already sung Smetana’s Moldau which allowed us to give concerts in the Czech Republic, Beethoven’s Pastoral in Germany, Tchaikovski’s Swans’ Lake in Russia in 2007 where this educational method was moreover appreciated by the Director of Nijni-Novgorod’s Choir, who asked for the authorization to use it in his country.
At the moment, Grieg’s Peer Gynt gives us a big desire to come to sing it in Scandinavia.

We are accompanied by an excellent concert pianist performer : Virginie Soumoy-Cambon.

Usually, during our tours, we are welcomed by children’s choirs and we live by the foreign families, mostly one adult and one child together and sometimes, if there is enough room one adult and 2 children.
For us, the important thing is to share some time with the families who welcome us.

There is no problem if 2 persons sleep in the same bed of if one person sleeps on a mattress on the floor. Naturally we would be happy to receive in Nancy the choir which would welcome us.
You have to know that there is in our city an International Festival of Choral Music which takes place every other year in May. The next one is for 2009. For more precision, you can see its website : http://www.chantchoral.org

Naturally during our stay we would like to give one or two concerts in a hall with piano to sing musical adaptations (Grieg, Mozart, Haendel...) and some french songs.
Obviously, we would give them free of charge.
Would you be interested or do you know some choirs who would be interested in this project and could welcome us for 2 or 3 nights.

The chidren of my choir who would make this journey are boys and girls between 6 and 12 years old.
I hope this project will come true and ask you to accept, Madam, Sir, my respectful greetings.

For your information, I send to you some letters from our previous journeys and invite you to have a look at our website : http://chorale.mirabelles.free.fr/

I have plans to bring my choir to Helsinki in 2009, and would like to get in contact with another choir in Helsinki – preferably a mixed choir with age-group between 30-65.

This is the plans for our trip to Helsinki:

    * We leave from Norway on Thursday 30th of April 2009 with return Sunday 3rd of May.
    * Thursday and Friday we make our own plans – sightseeing, maybe a short trip to Tallinn by boat, but it would be nice to hook up with the other choir in the evening, maybe for a nice dinner together to get acquainted.
    * On Saturday we would like to have an opportunity to have a jointed choir practice in the afternoon, and maybe have a concert open for the public in the early evening for both choirs, followed by a jointed dinner to finish up our stay in Helsinki.

We would very much like to have the Concert in The Temppeliaukion Church, our Conductor has had concerts in the Church before, and would very much like to do it again.

We are probably going to stay at the Scandic Hotel Marski where I stayed in May, very central located in the City.

Our wish before we arrive:

    * That the Church has been booked for the concert, and that the concert has been advertised in newspapers in Helsinki and in other Medias or by flyers.
    * That plans have been made for where we can practise during our stay where there is a piano
    * Where can we have our jointed dinners on Friday and Saturday?

The only thing that we have to be sure of: the members of the choir have to speak either Swedish or English so that we understand each other.

Please use my e-mail address: liv-s2@online.no

You can find out more about our choir if you go in to our web-site: www.fraunakoret.no

We hope to hear from your as soon as possible.

I am Elzbieta Ring and choral conductor of a girl's choir, Mousikè, of the Music Academy of Wijnegem (Antwerp, Belgium). I'm loking for an contact with a youthchoir (schoolchoir?) to prepare a exchange project. The purposes of the project – as I thought – could be artistical as well as pedagogical and cultural gains, e.g.:
- the preparation of a joint concert (at Antwerp as well at your place)
- getting acquainted with the culture and the tradition of our regions

I know from experience that this kind of exchanges not only is very much motivating but also challenging to our young people. With this artistical meeting I would like to get acqaited my pupils (about 25 girl's between 15-18 years old) with the wonderful Finnish music and the famous vocal tradition of your country.

With kind regards,

Elzbieta Ring

Pendyrus Male Choir  from  Wales (http://www.pendyrus.org) are this summer making a concert tour with The Fred. Olsen Lines Cruises. They are performing on the ship for the passengers, and when they arrive to certain cities, they want to give a concert there, and also want to meet local choirsingers. On tuesday August 18. 2009 we are having an arrangement of that kind in Copenhagen, where they will perform in the Tivoli Gardens. Later on their tour they are having a concert in Tallinn.

Pendyrus Male Choir also wants very much to give a concert in Helsinki on Monday 24th August. The choir shall arrive at 8.30 and leave at 18.00. It would be a bonus if we could link up with a male choir in Helsinki. The choir needs help in finding a choir or a person able to arrange a concert and upon that a social togetherness.

The Pendyrus Male Choir Party holds a number of about 100 persons, of whom around 60 are singers. They are a well reputated choir with a great history, and a very fine repertoire.

Sincerely,

John H Lewis, General Secretary, Pendyrus Male Choir

Dear Sirs,

I'm writing you from Hungary. My name is Erzsebet Pasztor and I'm the
choir leader of the ADULT MIXED CHOIR OF TOKAJ TOWN.

I have been to Finland several times (12 times) and I love your
wonderful country. Most members of the choir have been to Finland
twice and it is their dream to return there and spend some more days
in the land of their dreams. We are men and women between the ages of
20 and 65.

We have a great problem. Our choir has had an application submitted to
the European Union. In this application we promised to travel to
Finland and to receive a Finnish group in Hungary. We had a strong
offer to co-operate with us and provide host families for the members
of our choir. Unfortunately, it seems that the Finnish partner cannot
do these things, that is why we are looking for a Finnish co-operating
partner.

Our choir has arranged several things: we are travelling in August by
bus. We are leaving on the 4th and arriving in Finland on the 6th of
August. We are planning to stay for four nights. What we would
desparately need: host families for the choir (49 members) for these
four nights providing catering and we would like to give two concerts.
We have a very wide range of music in our programme, so these concerts
can be organised in churches or even in public halls. (I have heard
that it is easier to organise church concerts.)

What we offer is the same: we would like to accept a choir, a cultural
group or any other type of group who would like to visit Hungary at
any time between September 2010 and the end of December 2011. We offer
the same things that we would like to get: accomodation and catering.
We also offer an interesting programme in Hungary: sightseeing in some
lovely, historic towns and famous regions of Hungary.  We don't need
any programmes organised for us in Finland, as we can do it for
ourselves.

About the concerts: it would be great if one concert could be in
Helsinki and the other one in any other towns of Finland.

We would be extremely grateful if you could help us finding a
co-operating Finnish partner.

Thank you very much for your assisstance in advance.

I'm looking forward hearing from you at your earliest convenience.

Best regards,

Erzsebet Pasztor
